Hotels & Resorts

CIEL Hotels & Resorts operates and manages resort and hospitality assets in Mauritius through Sunlife and Riveo.

Property

CIEL Properties manages the Group's land and real estate assets in Mauritius through Evolis Properties and Ferney, spanning commercial, industrial, logistics and residential developments.

Agro

CIEL Agro comprises the Group's interests in Alteo and Miwa Sugar, spanning agriculture, sugar production, energy and property development.

Our History

1912-1971

Started in 1912 through the acquisition of one sugar estate
Growth in the sugar industry through acquisitions and centralisation of operations in Deep River Beau Champ

1972 - 1988

Kick-off of the diversification of CIEL’s operations in the textile industry with the acquisition of Floreal Knitwear and followed by several acquisitions in Mauritius

1989 - 2000

Start of CIEL's international expansion:
- Creation of Floreal Madagascar
- Acquisition of a sugar estate in Tanzania
- Diversification in the Financial sector with the incorporation of Cirne Financial Services (now IPRO Ltd)

2001 - 2005

New Group corporate structure with the incorporation of CIEL Textile Ltd, CIEL Agro-Industry Ltd, CIEL Investment Ltd, CIEL Properties Ltd and CIEL Capital Limited
Launch of property projects in Mauritius with Anahita and the start of ecotourism with Domaine de l’Etoile, and later in 2008 with La Vallée de Ferney
Creation of CIEL Foundation

2005 - 2013

Externalisation of CIEL Textile’s operations in India, China and Bangladesh
Official launch of Anahita The Resort and Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita
New acquisition in the Finance sector with First City Bank Ltd, now Bank One, in a joint venture with I&M Bank

2014 - 2016

Listing of CIEL Limited on the official Market of the Stock Exchange of Mauritius
Acquisition of controlling stakes in BNI Madagascar SA and in Sun Limited and in Transmara Sugar Company Limited through Alteo
Creation of CIEL Healthcare and acquisitions of increased stakes in the Medical and Surgical Centre Limited

2017 - 2019

Listing of CIEL on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius Sustainability Index
Increased stake in C-Care (Mauritius) Ltd and acquisition of all CIEL Textile Limited’s ordinary shares held by minority shareholders
Creation of Property cluster

2020 - 2021

Launch of Group Sustainability Strategy 2030
Rebranding of CIEL Healthcare into C-Care across Mauritius and Uganda
